Empire Design The Story of Engineered Stewardship.
Empire Design, Inc is the result of two worlds becoming one a merging of minds dedicated to serving Martha’s Vineyard with a specialized, high-tier property care we call Engineered Stewardship. We realized that while many can maintain a property, few “steward” it with technical insight. By merging Marcus’s engineering background with Alexia’s operational rigor, we provide a service as reliable as it is precise.
Meet Our Founders Marcus & Alexia Ferreira
Marcus Vinicius Ferreira The Technical Site Strategist
Marcus immigrated from Cuparaque, Brazil, in 2019 to build a legacy for his family, bringing over seven years of expertise and a B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering (2012) from Univale University. Before calling the Vineyard home, he led a distinguished career as a Senior Civil Engineer in Brazil, managing complex infrastructure projects, multi-million BRL budgets, and crews of 90 workers.
Since arriving, Marcus has spent 7 years immersed in the Vineyard landscape industry. He identified a critical gap: while the industry excels at aesthetic “polishing,” it often overlooks the technical infrastructure that sustains a property. Marcus bridges the divide by applying an engineering mindset to landscape stewardship, analyzing the physics of the site from drainage to soil stability to ensure structural integrity.
(Disclaimer: Marcus V. Ferreira is not a licensed US Civil Engineer nor claims to provide such services.)
Alexia Garcia Ferreira | The Architect of Operations
Alexia’s philosophy is simple: Precision is the highest form of care. A graduate of MVRHS with a degree in Business Administration and a focus on Entrepreneurship, Alexia spent a decade navigating the Vineyard’s most complex operational environments. During her ten-year career at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, she rose to Operations Manager and became the island’s systems specialist.
Beyond systems, Alexia is a student of history and a professional photographer. Her intuition for heritage and culture ensures that Empire Design approaches estate management with deep respect for each family’s legacy. She serves as the bridge between the field and the client, translating technical brilliance into a seamless, professional experience.
